Tripping on Oregon

Heceta Head Lighthouse
Yachatas, Oregon

I love road-trips! Nothing beats the joy of just loading the car up and taking off on a journey to explore the beauty of this world. Around this time last year, my husband began planning one to celebrate my birthday but he was stuck trying to pick a place for hours on end. Eventually, he decided to let my bucket list take over and guess what was on it, ‘VISIT A LIGHTHOUSE’. I am a hopeless romantic and find lighthouses adorable. The entire ambiance of a tower on a cliff, facing the ocean is just irresistible to me.

So he did some digging and found the ‘Heceta Head Lighthouse’ in Yachats, Oregon. It is one of the few working lighthouses that remain in the United States. The best part though is the keeper’s house, which has been turned into a beautiful Bed & Breakfast for visitors. It was the perfect getaway and our entire week-long road trip was planned around this place. I have to say, it was one of the best birthday’s I’ve ever celebrated.

The Heceta Head Lighthouse sits atop the cliff with the B&B a short walk away, overlooking the beautiful blue ocean.

We ended up driving through most of the state of Oregon over 7 days, visiting some of the frequented tourist spots and some spots that were off the beaten path.

Started our trip with the majestic Multnomah falls

Let me tell you, there’s beauty in every corner of Oregon. The landscape changes that you see as you drive through the state are phenomenal. Ice-capped mountains, painted hills, forest reserves, beautiful blue beaches, Oregon’s got it all. The only thing that’s hard to come by while driving through Oregon is mobile network coverage. Are you ready to do it the old-fashioned way? Pick up some maps and be on your way! I promise you will love it.

Here are a few snippets of our beautiful getaway to inspire you.

We expected Painted hills to be a busy tourist spot, but the privacy, peace and calm that we found there was exquisite.
The awe inspiring Crater Lake was partly closed when we visited, but we fell in love with the part that we got to see
A Blanket of snow, contrasting deep blue waters, the still and calm of an enormous lake, what’s not to love?
We caught this refreshing sunrise on our hot air balloon ride in Portland
A happy coincidence when our balloon looked like love
