What I Wear

Camo day

“Aaahh is it raining again? My new shoes are gonna be ruined. My hair will be messy. Don’t even get me started on the pristine cream carpets in my car.” Yes, adulthood sucks in some ways.

There was a time when the sound of rain inspired the urge to run out and play. I have some beautiful memories of when my girls would come over and we would run up to the terrace just to dance in the rain in our pajamas. And then we grew up and life caught up and rain became ‘bad weather’. I still love rainy days but I have a different approach than when I was little.  Continue reading “Camo day”

Why do we seek validation?

More often than not, recognition adds value to one’s achievement. This isn’t supposed to be true, but unfortunately, it seems like it is. My achievements don’t feel as good by themselves, as they do when people tell me that they are good. So I ask myself, when did it become the norm to seek validation outside of oneself? Why don’t I do stuff for myself anymore? Christmas in Branson, Missouri

I hail from a Hindu household, and I’ve seen way too many festivals celebrated over the span of a year. There’s Sankranti, Holi, Diwali, Dussehra, Ugadi and the list goes on. My family was never too big on celebrations. I remember the occasional poojas and fireworks once a year, but even that seemed to fade out as we grew up. Christmas, although never celebrated in my house, has always been a favorite of mine. As children, all we know about any festival is the fun part. That remains the case with me even today and this led to my trip to Branson, Missouri last Christmas. Continue reading “Christmas in Branson, Missouri”

How to pull off a two day trip to Arizona

Before I actually visited Arizona, I never pegged it to be one of those beautiful places that would go down on my list as a favorite. Call me ignorant, but every time I heard the word ‘Arizona’ all I could picture was lots of sun and heat. The mental image I had was probably close to that of a desert. Until one of my friends visited and could not stop talking about the beauty of the canyons.  Continue reading “How to pull off a two day trip to Arizona”
